Drawing Toolkit CampFire Teacher Guide Gr3

Why this Drawing Toolkit works

Art planning should not consume your weekend

When you teach several year levels, the challenge is not finding one more art activity. It is knowing what to teach next, how to build skills over time and how to connect short lessons with meaningful art-making.

The Drawing Toolkit provides a clear year-level pathway while leaving room for your own teaching style, classroom needs and creative decisions.

Students learn to:

✓ observe carefully
✓ draw with growing confidence
✓ learn from artists and artworks
✓ apply their skills through hands-on and digital artworks
✓ discuss, reflect on and present their creative choices

Less scrambling. More purposeful art-making. More time to teach.

Overwhelmed with Planning Art?

Hi, I’m Sylvia.

I have been a primary teacher for more than 20 years and an F–12 Visual Arts specialist for 10 years. I know what it is like to plan for many year levels, search for genuine progression and spend Sunday night preparing another week of lessons.

I also know what it is like to spend your own money on resources, hoping they will work with real students and real classroom timetables.

I created the Drawing Toolkit because I wanted a clear, practical pathway that helped students build genuine skills while still allowing teachers and students to be creative.

CampFire is the approach I use in my own classroom. It is structured enough to guide the learning, but flexible enough to suit different students, materials and teaching situations.

If you teach one year level or many and want a calmer pathway through the term, CampFire was made for you.

How the Drawing Toolkit works

Each CampFire year-level unit supports approximately one school term.

Students revisit Line & Shape through:
✓ short Core Skills drawing lessons
✓ artist and artwork learning
✓ short quizzes
✓ hands-on Studio Work projects
✓ guided digital making
✓ discussion, reflection and presentation

Students are not expected to create a polished artwork after one demonstration. They practise, revisit and apply their learning in different ways throughout the term.

Short instruction can sit alongside longer project work, allowing students to continue at different paces while the class keeps moving forward.

The result is a practical teaching rhythm that fits real Art classrooms.
