About Me 🌍
With 30+ years of experience, as a primary teacher, a principal, and lately a K-12 Art teacher, I understand the challenges teachers face.
Imagine a shy British Anglo-Caribbean girl who once struggled in school but later thrived in university; Now fuelling a global mission to support teachers.
Beyond the classroom, I enjoy reading epic tales, painting landscapes, hand-building clay sculptures, eating spicy food, and travelling the world.

A Life-Changing Adventure
In 1986, my husband Ray and I moved from the UK to the Solomon Islands with British Overseas Aid. He was appointed as Director of Pharmacy for the Solomon Islands Government, and I began as an accompanying wife — with no formal qualifications.
Soon after arriving, I was invited to help at a local school. I completed a Montessori teaching course online and was able to teach the Foundation class every morning — a lively group of 72 little learners who completely changed the course of my life.
(Years later, I would go on to earn my Bachelor of Education with Honours — but this early experience was where it all truly began.)
That experience planted the seed for what would eventually become I Love To Teach 101.

Building a Brighter Future
After returning to the UK in 1992, we later emigrated to Western Australia in 1995, where I pursued formal teacher education. I completed my four-year Bachelor of Education with Honours and taught for several years in a government primary school before we returned overseas.
By the time we went back to the Solomon Islands in 2002 — this time with Australian Volunteers — I was a fully qualified teacher, bringing both experience and formal training to the classroom.
Together with our local church, we helped build a small Christian school, where I served as both principal and teacher. I had to learn fast — juggling budgeting, curriculum writing, classroom teaching, and training teachers.
Our students went on to graduate in the top 10% of the country. Proof that organisation, care, and creativity make a difference.

Back Home with New Insights
After 30+ years of teaching, I’ve learned how important it is to foster creativity in our students. But that can be hard when the admin pile seems to regenerate every morning like a hydra magically
So, I created I Love To Teach 101 (ILTT), to help teachers get organised—not with rigid systems, but with flexible, creative routines that support both student learning and teacher sanity.
My goal? To help teachers stay inspired, not just stay afloat.

Empathy and Equity
I’ve always been inspired by Nelson Mandela’s words “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. This ethos is in everything we do.
Each purchase on our site not only supports you, but also helps provide much-needed resources to teachers in the Solomon Islands.
It’s a simple way to be part of a global movement toward equity in education, one download, one classroom at a time.

Why not change the world through education
Why not change the world with education as Nelson Mandela’s famous quote inspires. Education is the key to changing the world. Yet many do not have it.

Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It’s about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth about life.
