Art Materials Procedures

1. Brushes and Watercolours
- Wash thoroughly with water, making sure to clean the handle as well as the bristles.
- Leave the brush to dry upside down in the brush container.
2. Brushes and Acrylic Paint
- Never pour acrylic paint down the sink; it turns into plastic and will block it.
- Remove acrylic paint using a paper towel, and dispose of it straight into the bin.
- Wash thoroughly with water and soap, covering all parts of the brush.
- Let the brush dry upside down in the brush container.

3. Brushes and Oil Paint
- Start with turps on a paper towel to break up the oil paint,
- Make sure to cover not just the brush but the handle too.
- Then, wash thoroughly with water and soap, cleaning every bit of the brush and handle.
- Let the brush dry upside down in the brush container.
4. Clay Mess Cleanup
- Never throw clay leftovers or clay liquid down the sink; it will clog it.
- Rinse off clay from tools and hands using a bucket first.
- Then wash with soap and water.

5. Floor
- Check the floor for any dropped items.
- If you find something, pick it up, even if it isn’t yours, and put it in the right place.
- If you don’t know, ask someone!
6. Palettes and Paint
- Only squeeze out a dollar coin-sized blob of paint.
- Waste paint you will lose points.
- Never dispose of Acrylic or Oil paint in the sink.
- To clean a palette, wipe it with a dry paper towel straight into the rubbish bin.
- Then wash the palette with soap and water, and leave it to dry on the rack.

7. Tables
- Wash thoroughly with water and soap, covering all parts of the brush.
- Let the brush dry upside down in the brush tin.
