
Dive into the world of famous photographers with this project. You’ll learn about great photographers, improve your digital skills, and find out how to share your work safely. Get ready to be inspired and learn something new!
These are the steps to make and share your VIDEO
- Choose a famous photographer from the list at the end of this post.
- You MUST choose a different famous photographer to your friend in class.
- Open the CANVA.COM Template, on Google Classroom #6 Famous Photographer Video.
- Make the slideshow presentation on Canva following the instructions below.
- Don’t forget to add transitions, animations, and background music. Find instructions below.
- Download as a PowerPoint first and submit it to Google Classroom. Find instruction below.
- Download as a MP4 VIDEO second. Find instructions below.
- Publish your Video on a blog post, that I’ve started on your photo blog. Instructions below.
- If you have time please add your video to Artsonia, under Famous Photographers Project.
- Get it ALL finished by the due date, equals many many points.
Slide Rules
See my slides guide and examples, at the bottom of this post.
- Write no more than 20-25 words max, per slide.
- Write in bullet points NOT paragraphs.
- Write everything in your own words, do NOT copy/paste.
- Every slide should have a non-copyrighted picture that relates to the information.

Add music, timing and transitions to your slide show


- Add background music by tapping AUDIO on the left.
- Make each slide 5 secs long or whatever you think is best for your audience
- Add a simple animation to each slide
- Add a simple transition to each slide
How to Download Powerpoint and MP4 Video from Canva
This is my example Famous Photographer slideshow video.
- Download as a PowerPoint first: Click Share, click the three dots . . . in the drop-down, click on PowerPoint, select slide 11, then download slide 11, and submit it to Google Classroom.
- Download as a MP4 VIDEO second: Click Share, click download, click on MP4 Video, then download video.
Publish your Famous Photographer Video
First publish it on your photo blog:
- Open the blog post ‘Famous Photographer Xxxxxx Xxxxx’ that I’ve started on your blog.
- Change the feature image to a photo of your Famous Photographer.
- Make some adjustments to the text to introduce your VIDEO.
- Tap open the Video box at the end of your blog post and upload your VIDEO.
- Update and publish your famous photographer blog post.
Second, publish it on Artsonia in the famous photographer project:
- Open App: Open the Artsonia app on your class iPad or at home on your iPhone.
- Select Class: Choose your Year level.
- Upload Area: Tap on the ‘Artwork’ tab, then select ‘Upload Video’.
- Choose File: Tap ‘Select Files’ and choose your video file from your device.
- Enter Details: Fill in the title and in the artist statement write a sentence about why you chose this famous photographer.
- Submit: Tap ‘Submit’ to upload the video to your Artsonia gallery.
This project is an excellent opportunity to showcase your creativity and the skills you’ve developed in analysing the works of a famous photographer. Enjoy crafting your slide show, and I look forward to seeing your unique perspectives on the famous photographers you choose!

My Slides Guide and Examples
1. Title Slide
You might want to create your title at the end of the lesson before you submit it on Google Classroom. Make sure the name of the photographer is in the title.
Add your LOGO to the slide.

2. Photographer’s photo, name, dates he/she lived and died, and the location where they lived/worked.
Don’t forget to add a photo of the photographer.

3. How did they get started? (what was their first job, first experience with photography, etc;)
Add a photo of one of their first influences.

4. Why would your chosen photographer be considered an important or influential photographer?
Add a link to show where you found some info about it. Or/and reason why you think that. Add a photo to show one important photo by him/her.

5. Find at least two photos the photographer took that would be considered important, include the picture.
Include the photographs, the date they were taken and some background information on the photo.

6. Where the photographer attended college (name of school/location) or where they got their training.
Add a picture that shows a book or something that could have influenced them. Or/and find a photo of the college they attended. Or a photo of beach or dessert if that’s where they self-taught to take photo’s.

7. What tools or/and techniques did he/she use in their photography?
Add a photograph of the tool or technique. Keep your presentation user friendly.

8. What was the subject matter of their photography? (eg; pictures of war)
Add a photo example to show what you mean.

9. Influences on their photography, eg; individuals who influenced them, etc;
Add an example of the photos that show the influence. One by your chosen photographer and one by the influencer.

10. Three to five additional interesting facts about them or their photography.
Add at least one photograph to illustrate one of the interesting facts.

11. All URLs listed on the last slide(s) for info and photographs you used.
Add all the in text links at the end here as well.
